Rodents are popular and easy pets.  Unfortunately their life span is not very long, rarely living much longer than 3 years.  Some health issues they are commonly seen for include:

• Skin/Parasite problems
• Teeth/Dental problems
• Cancer/Tumors
• Digestive problems
• Respiratory problems

Did you know rats are relatively intelligent and can be trained to come when called for a treat?  Gerbils can slough their tail if it gets caught or held too firmly, so be careful. Hamsters are escape artists and their cages should be checked regularly for chewed or damaged areas.
