Yes, we do acupuncture for dogs and cats!

What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is one of the oldest medical procedures in recorded history.  The basis of acupuncture is the needling of certain spots on the body that regulate the flow of “Chi” (energy).  “Chi” runs through channels and can be thought of as rivers of energy.  These become blocked, and needling releases the obstruction.  Needling of specific points leads to the release of chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.  Specific pathways are stimulated for specific conditions.  Once stimulated, the body releases its own anti-inflammatory and pain relieving compounds that help the body heal.  Veterinary acupuncture has successfully treated the following conditions:
  • Arthritis/ Weakness
  • Back and Neck pain
  • Neurologic issues
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Seizures
  • Stress
Acupuncture effects are cumulative so several treatments are usually needed for chronic conditions.  Acute conditions usually need fewer treatments.
